The H1-B visa allows professionals in "specialty careers" to make a valuable contribution to the U.S. economy. A maximum of 65,000 type H1-B visas are issued every year. The H-1B visa is issued for up to three years but can be extended. This visa allows a maximum stay of six years and visa holders can apply for a Residence Card (green card) if a company sponsors your application.

The H1-B nonimmigrant applicants may be granted a temporary entry looking for a "specialty position" which requires special professional skills. The "specialty occupations" include: Accounting, Systems Analysis, Programmers, Database Administrators, Web Page Designers, Engineers, Financial Analysts, Lawyers, Doctors, Nurses, Scientists, and Architects. Applications submitted by employers based on their need to recruit an employee non U.S. resident. Applicants should have a bachelor's degree or meet experience requirement.

Due to the limited number of visas these are in very high demand and it is appropriate start the process 1 year head of time.

Requirements:

• Have U.S. Sponsor;
• Lack of workers able or willing to work;
• That the job be temporary;
• Have the appropriate college degree for the position (or at least 12 years of experience in the field)

* Citizens of Canada and Mexico are also eligible for TN Work Visas if they meet the requirements.
