Types of Student Visas

At Katz Law Offices, Ltd., we help students from around the world come to the United States to study. The most common student visas are as follows:

• F-1 Visa — This type of visa is obtained through a college, university, or other academic institution. F-1 visas are available for full-time students. The visa is effective throughout the whole term of study, plus an additional 60 days.
• J-1 Visa — This type of visa is issued to foreign nationals involved in exchange visitor programs. J-1 visas are available for the following individuals: au pairs, high school students, teachers, professors, researchers, students of summer programs, and others.

Each visa has specific application requirements. At Katz Law Office, Ltd., we can help you with the application process, as well as provide legal support in any related matter. If you plan on studying in the U.S., you will need to apply for a student visa at least 90 days before the date listed on the I-20 form (one of the required forms to apply for an F-1 or J-1- visa.)
