Generally, beneficiaries of immediate family residency applications are placed into one of these preference categories:

First preference:

• Unmarried children of U.S. citizens, approximately 23,400 annually

Second preference:

• A: Spouses and unmarried minors of legal residents, 114,200 annually
• B: Unmarried adult children of legal residents

Third preference:

• Married sons and daughters of U.S. citizens, approximately 23,400 annually

Fourth preference:

• Siblings of adult citizens, 65,000 annually
