Maria E. Castellanos

Maria Elena Castellanos is an alumnus of the University of Illinois at Chicago. Her major was Political Science with a concentration in Urban Politics. She participated in several grassroots organizing projects, including the United States Hispanic Leadership Institute (USHLI) and Project LEAD, an organization which concentrated on increasing civic participation in Latino neighborhoods. She has also worked for various political campaigns primarily concentrating in the 12th and 22nd wards of Chicago, the Back of the Yards and Little Village neighborhoods. Maria grew up in Pilsen. In her own words, “working at Katz Law Office, Ltd., not only allows me the opportunity to connect with my roots, but it also affords me the ability to reach out to the community. At KLOL I perform all the duties of a paralegal. I meet with clients, prepare legal documents, execute legal research, prepare filings, and in some instances I even conduct factual investigations.”
